I was just wondering if you plan to support other devices like Garmin or any other brand?

Hi! No. I think I have no time for this. I'm working still so hard... ;p
But why not sharing knowledge about GPS with any coding team or developper... or I'll work on this after the version 1.0 of pytomtom...
Isn't any software for Garmin on linux ?
best regards
Tom

They do have a linux page with some sources. Maybe you can implement based off that when you get time?

Excuse moi je ne pas parlez francais, anglaise et allemagne et hongroise possible.
So I have to talk English. First of all, thank you all for doing this - it is a shame TomTopm does not support Linux using it heavily inside!
I tried just the version 0.5 and it recognised my device, although I have an old GO500 (which is very good so I do not want to change it until i do not must).
The software has no option for the old GOs, so I tried to connect as a GO510, but as for it is not directly the same machine, I did not dare the fixpos upgrade not to brick my device :-)
Please tell me, is it a plan to support older models as GO 500?
And about whet time shall it be possible to upgrade SW and maps via this software?
Thank you for listening, and I wish you all the best:

Hi Nathalie !!
yes, it would be possible to add GO500...
I'll search doc about GO 500 chipset next week and i'll implement this...
Unfortunatly, there is (and there will be) no way to upgrade sofware and map because source code is closed and programmer is not my job... I'm very newbie...
Thanks for your interest for pytomtom,
I'll contact you as soon as possible...
best regards,
Tom

Hi Tom, thank you very much.
GO 500 has a SIRF-II chip AFAIK.
Anyway a great step forward, and if some other guys klick in you can solve the whole :-)

Nat

It's ok. I use no more Ubuntu so I can build deb now, but you just have to extract pytomtom-0.5.1.targ.gz to the directory you want and run pytomtom.sh (clic-clic... :p )
